Ghostbusters -7 out of 10

I saw Ghostbusters with the extended family yesterday.  It definitely got a few chuckles out of me, but I still think the original movie is better.  While the review I’m forwarding below gives it a 6 out of 10, I’m going to give it a firm 7 out of 10.  I thought the casting was fantastic, even if I didn’t really like the way that a couple of the characters were written. It made me laugh on several occasions and I enjoyed seeing the living cast members of the original film in their cameos, even if their lines weren’t the best. And, in some ways, the film holds up on its own. In some ways, it doesn’t. Since, I don’t have time to write a long review, I’m going to list some of my reservations about the film below:

  • The Holtzman character, which everyone seems to love, seemed over the top to me.
  • The ghosts/poltergeists looked faker and less scary than those in the 1984 film.
  • I didn’t grow to love all the Ghostbusters like I did in the original.

I don’t agree with everything in the review below, but read it for alternative opinions.
